This impeachment would be unnecessary, it would be divisive, and it's only being done because Democrats want to keep the focus on President Trump.
The reason Democrats are talking about impeachment is because their hatred of Donald Trump is really the only thing that unifies this current constituency of Democrats.
President Trump called for peaceful and patriotic protests. The people who breached the Capitol were neither, and should face consequences. I'll fight against an impeachment that only exists to advance the politics of Democrats.
Just yesterday, Democrats were telling us that we were seditious traitors and they were the vanguard of all democracy. Now, you have a Democrat member of Congress saying that the elected representatives of 70 million Americans should be expelled from the chamber.
We came today to debate, to follow regular order, to offer an objection, and to follow a process that is expressly contemplated in our Constitution. No competition, contest, or election can be deemed fair if the participants are subject to different rules.
Disturbing news from negotiations my colleagues and I have just had with GOP leadership: Republican leadership is contemplating taking the one hour we have to present our objections on each state and giving part of that time away to Republicans who don't support the objections.
Republicans will not leave democracy undefended on January 6th.
We're going to object to states that did not run clean elections.
"We're not going back to losing politely with Mitt Romney. We're not going back to the Bush's and the Cheney's. This is Donald Trump's party. I'm a Donald Trump Republican – that's where the energy in our party is."
On January 6th, I'm joining with the fighters in Congress. We're going to OBJECT to electors from states that didn't run clean elections. (Turning Point USA Student Action Summit/West Palm Beach/12.18.20)
