Congressmen Gaetz, Biggs, Meadows, and Jordan Urge President Trump to Build the Wall

Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, Congressmen Matt Gaetz, Andy Biggs, Mark Meadows, and Jim Jordan sent a letter to President Trump, urging him to use his authority under Title X to access funds to build the wall.

“The American people deserve strong border security, and the Democrats have denied them that opportunity in this committee deal. This legislation does not secure our southern border, does not fully fund a wall, and further cripples our national security by allowing violent criminal aliens into our country. We support the President’s prerogative to use federal funds to build a barrier on our southern border, and urge him to take this executive action immediately if he decides to sign this deal.” – Congressman Matt Gaetz

“Members of Congress have repeatedly promised and failed to secure the border. This failure has harmed many innocent Americans. I’ve traveled to the border several times and talked to Border Patrol agents, ranchers, and local law enforcement about the issues they encounter with illegal immigration. They agree that the President must do what Congress refuses to accomplish: build the wall and secure the border. I encourage President Trump to take immediate action to fulfill his most important promise to the American people.” – Congressman Andy Biggs

“Congress has an obligation to defend the homeland and adequately fund border security. Make no mistake: This conference agreement amounts to a failure by Congress of that responsibility. This agreement is not a serious attempt to secure the border and stop the flow of illegal immigrants and criminal gang members from entering the United States. It kicks the can down the road yet again, failing to address the priorities outlined by Border Patrol Chiefs and experts who deal with defending the borders daily. Congress should reject this ‘deal,’ continue negotiating, and come back with a real proposal to keep American families safe and secure.” – House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows

Donald J. Trump

President of the United States

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.

Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Mr. President:

Thank you for your leadership efforts to protect our border.  The conference committee deal is bad.  It will not secure the border and will allow criminally violent aliens to be released into our country.  And, in fact, there may be additional problems with the proposed “deal.”

If you feel the need to sign the legislation we also urge you to immediately use your authority pursuant to Title X, Sections 284 and 2808, to access funds to begin building a much-needed border wall.  We support your use of the authority delegated to you as President by the United States Congress to use federal funds to protect the American people.

                                                                                All the best,
