Congressmen Gaetz & Biggs Issue Statement Following Press Conference Calling for Investigation on FBI's "Special" Treatment of Hillary Clinton

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL-01) today, alongside Congressmen Jim Jordan (OH-04), Mark Meadows (NC-11), Scott Perry (PA-04), Jody Hice (GA-10), and Andy Biggs (AZ-05), held a press conference calling for an investigation into the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) system and procedures that allow "special" treatment and bias, in order to prevent "special" treatment from happening again.

In advance of the December 7th testimony of FBI Director Christopher Wray
before the House Judiciary Committee, the Congressmen specifically called for information about former Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe's statement that the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton's misuse of a personal email server was "referred to as ‘special'" and that "the decision was made to investigate it at HQ with a small team." Earlier last week, Reps. Gaetz, Gohmert, and Biggs sent a letter to Director Wray, asking for an investigation to be launched into the FBI's treatment of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during their e-mail investigation.

Following the press conference, Reps. Gaetz and Biggs issued the following statements:

"We are here today calling for an investigation into FBI systems and procedures that have allowed special treatment and bias to run rampant. The law demands equal treatment for all, not ‘special' treatment for some. There is a clear and consistent pattern of treating the Clinton investigation differently than other investigations. At least some of this ‘special' treatment seems to have been motivated by political bias. As America's premier law enforcement agency, the FBI must rise above the fray of partisanship. Our judicial system depends on equal treatment under the law," Rep. Gaetz said.

"Americans are tired of special treatment for the Clintons and their friends. Sadly, our own FBI has no interest in investigating them. From Uranium One to the Clinton e-mail server, the Obama Administration and the FBI has a lot to explain. I am pleased to join my colleagues to demand answers for my constituents, and will not stop fighting until I receive them," said Rep. Biggs.
