Washington, D.C. — Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL-01) today issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 5327, the Comprehensive Opioid Recovery Centers Act, sponsored by Rep. Brett Guthrie (KY-02):

“The Comprehensive Opioid Recovery Centers Act is yet another example of an irresponsible and misguided attempt from Washington to fix the growing #OpioidCrisis with a big-government solution. Too many of the prescriptions written for opioids today in America are causing addiction that lead to senseless deaths. The creation of yet another bloated government spending program is not the remedy. Congress instead should be looking at solutions that enable patients to find alternative treatments that don’t create dependence and instead focus on patient care,” Rep. Gaetz said.
