Congressman Gaetz to Recognize Local Heroic Sailor

PENSACOLA, FL: Congressman Matt Gaetz will honor, with special recognition, Petty Officer First Class Joseph Pellicano of Pace, Florida, for his heroic efforts that helped save the life of a 17-month-old.

On January 16, 2017, Pellicano was driving to work at Naval Air Station Whiting Field when he noticed a car accident. As he approached the scene, he saw a woman bloodied from the accident. After rendering aid to the woman, Pellicano discovered her child, also bloodied. The child had no vital signs, prompting Pellicano to immediately began CPR, which successfully resuscitated the child. Since, the child has made a full recovery.

Congressman Gaetz plans to recognize Petty Officer First Class Pellicano for his courageous and noble actions in the board chambers at Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building in Pensacola on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.

The Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building is located at 221 Palafox Place.

Immediately preceding Pellicano's recognition ceremony, Congressman Gaetz and Escambia Commissioners will hold a special board meeting on OLFX.
