Gaetz Bill for Private Beach Ownership Advances in Congress

A bill to allow private land ownership on Pensacola Beach and Navarre Beach has the approval of a U.S. House committee.
The legislation by U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fort Walton Beach, was endorsed by the House Committee on Natural Resources earlier this month.
The bill, which isn't yet scheduled for debate on the House floor, would overturn restrictions put in place by the federal government when it deeded a large swath of Santa Rosa Island to Escambia County after World War II.
